TGIF, guys! This week has been busy, busy, busy for me. How about y’all? We’ve got a lot of home improvement projects planned that we want to knock out before the temperatures start to soar. So, naturally, my poor husband gets sick with a sinus infection. He’s had a headache for, literally, four days and I finally convinced him to go get it checked out yesterday. Why do guys always have to be convinced to go see the doc?

Anyway, I thought I’d update you with some pics of my new living room throw pillows that I made. I don’t know what it is about ticking fabric that I looove, but I just do. I found the fabric at JoAnn’s and sewed up a couple pillow covers in about 15 minutes.

Each pillow cover was made from just one piece of fabric and only took four straight lines on the sewing machine. Super duper easy and quick!

I bought these 16 x 16 inch down-alternative pillows from CB2 (Crate & Barrel’s little sister) for only $10 a pop. Not bad for a nicely fluffy pillow that mimics the feel and look of the feathered ones. My husband is allergic to down and will break out in hives and the itchys, so I had to compromise with these guys. I promise you, they are ten times better than the crappy pillow inserts from most craft and hobby stores. They fluff right back up after being squished and have kept their shape for quite a few months now.

Here’s a shot of the little envelope opening on the back. I love that I can pop out the inserts with ease and run the covers in the washing machine if they start to get a little dingy.

Here’s a nice view of how the living room is coming along. I can’t believe how much of a difference a few pillows, some wall art and a faux fiddle leaf fig tree can make for a space. You can see my windowpane mirror that I made for the Monthly DIY Challenge in the background.

I’ll be back on Monday to show you another quick addition to the living room. Have a great weekend, everyone!
